  1. Welcome to the short play demo of MARTIAN MEMORANDUM. This demo is meant to
  2. give you a short sampling of the actual game play of MARTIAN MEMORANDUM.

  4. Contained in this file is some short instructions and tips on getting the
  5. demo up and running.

  10. INSTALLING MARTIAN MEMORANDUM

  12. *** MARTIAN MEMORANDUM must be installed to work properly. ***

  14. Installing the demo is simple and can be done two ways.
  15.  
  16. Using the INSTALL program:
  17. 1) Insert demo disk into the floppy drive you are using to install from.
  18. 2) Type the letter of the drive followed by a colon (:) and press ENTER.
  19. 3) Type INSTALL and press ENTER.
  20. 4) Follow the instructions on screen.

  22. Using dos:
  23. 1) Create a directory on your hard disk to contain the demo by typing:
  24.         MD \MMDEMO [ENTER]
  25. 2) Copy all files from demo disk by typing:
  26.         CD \MMDEMO
  27.         Insert demo disk into floppy drive A: or B:
  28.         COPY A:*.* [ENTER] or COPY B:*.* [ENTER]

  33. PLAYING THE GAME

  35. Searching Rooms
  36. Searching a room is simple. At the bottom of the screen is a set of commands
  37. you can use to manipulate objects in a room. Simply select a command (the
  38. command will highlight) and then select objects in the room to manipulate.
  39. To select a new command, just select the new command from the command at the
  40. bottom on the screen.

  43. Talking to Characters
  44. Simply select the response you wish to use by selecting a response from the
  45. command bar at the bottom of the screen. You may also offer an item from your
  46. inventory.

  49. Loading and Saving
  50. You are not allowed to load or save during the short play demo.

  54. The HELP function is not available in this demo.

  57. The Camera
  58. When you find the camera and look through it, you can pan the camera using
  59. the arrows around the 'shoot photo' box. To return to the room, select the
  60. 'exit' box.
